mini christmas

ok so my sister and brother-in-law are in town for thanksgiving and apparently we’re having our own little mini christmas cuz we won’t see them for december 25th! WELL….i just found out about our mini christmas the day they got here so me thinking i had til the end of december to get gifts (and being the procrastinator i am) i have not been christmas shopping once!!! So they got here about 2am thanksgiving day!! we talked for an hour then went to bed. The next day we went to the Simms and joined a few other families for a lovely thanksgiving dinner! It was huge! delicious! and yielded many leftovers which we were all quite willing to take home but didn’t have any intention of eating anytime soon!! so the next day we all hung out for a while but then i had work!! SO i knew that the next day was our little “christmas” and i didn’t have any presents SO i got off work at 11pm and went to walmart! I was surprised at how few people were there….it was only 11:30 on black friday….but oh well!! So i got what i needed and left! Then i got home and watched a scary movie i had rented before work when i went to say hi to my friend at the video store! OH MY HECK!!!!! i’m officially terrified of hotels!! i didn’t start the movie til i got home so i didn’t finish it til around 3am and when it was over…..goodbye to any chance i had of sleeping!! i talked to a few of my friends and watched star trek til i felt safe enough to sleep!! Then i woke up this morning and we decorated the christmas tree and my parents and i wrapped presents!! So as i type this, nikki and david are in my parents room wrapping their presents! As soon as they’re done i suppose we’ll unwrap them…lol….weird to think about! but it’ll be fun! we’ve been listening to christmas music all day and eating leftover thanksgiving dessert (or at least i have) so that’s what’s new!! college boys??

ok so there is something i don’t quite understand. what’s the deal with profanity?? I was at school today just sitting and reading/watching people play pool and at first it was all good and fine til someone missed a ball. they screamed a cuss word and it was like my world just froze and the word echoed and resounded through silence….i was utterly shocked at the nature of this exclamation that my jaw probably touched my chest!!! then i looked around only to notice that i seemed to be the only one that DID notice! “come on guys…did no one else hear what i just heard??…..what’s the matter with you people…..somebody slap that boy!!” these thoughts were all jumbled in my head and it was everything i could do to keep them from escaping my mouth! then i began to really listen to the dialogue going on around me and the pool table and…..i’m sorry to say that it was everywhere! if that conversation was on the news it would be a series of beeps and bleeps…it was horrible!!! and i can only imagine the look of disgust on my face as i was witnessing this open display of profanity because i feel the same expression taking residence in my eyes as i type these words! Seemed like everyone was speaking this language that i’ve always known to be forbidden right in front of me and no one cared!! no one cared that my little ears took great offense to these words being tossed about in front of them! I wanted to walk up to the guy who started it and say something along the lines of “WHAT WAS THAT, SIR???? what, does it make you feel more like a man? does it make you feel cool? do you not at least respect all these women around to tone it down a bit?” or course the last wouldn’t have made sense because the girls’ mouths were just as bad!! but seriously…..i wanted to say “last i checked, we aren’t in highschool anymore…..aren’t you above this kind of speech?? do you know how stupid and ignorant you sound right now? like you can’t even come up with a word to describe the way you feel so you throw out a random offensive word so people get your disappointment? how IMMATURE!!! if anything you just sounds juvenile and should be laughed and scoffed at by your fellow classmates…!” but no…..i didn’t say anything….i restrained myself! i turned my little ipod up louder and lost myself in my amazing book! that made me feel better! but seriously guys…..take my advice…..a guy can be perfectly sweet, kind, and good-looking…but all these qualities are lost at the utterance of one profane word!! please avoid this! laterdays!

sinner

Ok so how about yesterday i finished a really amazing book!!! It’s called Sinner by Ted Dekker! i would recommend it for all of you…..except to get to that one there are 11 you need to read first! Black, Red, White, Chosen, Infidel, Renegade, Chaos, Showdown, Saint, and then House and Skin can be added in there anywhere!! ANYWAYS!!!! i’m in the middle of Skin right now and so far it’s really good!! i only have three books from christmas last year that i haven’t read yet (The Myst trilogy) and i think i may be getting more books for christmas this year!! i’m siked about all of it but i do have plans for the next book (well, trilogy) that i’m going to read. I’ll say more about it in my next blog!! Until then…i’m totally frozen to this seat and i can’t feel my toes! laterdays!

back on track

ok so…..it’s been some time! I would write a super long blog and fill you in on everything that’s happened since my last blog, but frankly…..i don’t want to! And so I’ll start from my most recent exciting news…and that would be my trip to orlando!

Day 1: So i left on a thursday after school. After dropping some things off at my mom’s work and filling up the tank i was on my way. Now unlike my last roadtrip (which was my first roadtrip) i didn’t have my video camera to talk to. AND i had come from a whole day of school so it was already evening and i had only gotten 3 hours of sleep the night before so basically (unlike my last roadtrip) i was not bouncing up and down and dancing in my car and playing car games with myself. I was however singing my music at the top of my lungs which is my best method of staying awake in the car. So here i am driving along (in the dark) and i didn’t read far enough ahead in my directions and the exit i was on forked and BOOM i took the wrong one!!! so after much searching and u-turns i made it back on the highway in the opposite direction. Then i missed the exit again and got lost in these strange little neighborhoods…BUT me being the smarty that i am, i stopped at a gas station and asked the nice gas station attendent how to get back to the highway. So I finally made it to the publix where i was supposed to meet ashley…by now it was about 8:01pm. She told me she would park in the same place we left my car the last time and i was SURE i knew where that was but i stopped by 3 different white cars til i found the one that ashley was in!! lol but it was great to see her!! Poor her though…i talked non-stop on the way to a gas station and then to her dorm from there and then like a half hour after we got there! She finally got a word in when i decided to breath!! thanks ash…your a pal!!

SO we were supposed to meet tj at the theater for the 1am showing of HOUSE. After we got done talking it was almost 9 and i was like a step away from REM. Me and ashley were both tired so we set our phone alarms and went to sleep. Next thing i know ashley is frantically shaking my arm saying “sami sami wake up it’s 1:30!!” WHAT????! ONE-THIRTY???? immediate panic and dread overtook me. I was sooooooooo mad at my phone!! I snatched it up to figure out why it never went off and saw i had a text from tj. I felt horrible. I read the text and was relieved to find that 10 minutes ago he also woke up from an unintentional nap and he apologized imensely!!! i was like PHEW! so we decided to try again the next day and we all went back to sleep  (much to my appreciation).

Day 2: We ended up having slept over 10 hours. It was so nice. I couldn’t help but think MAN it’s good to be on vacation. That day we were excited to get ready to go because that day we were going to attend the annual SPIRIT SPLASH at UCF for homecoming week!! That was a total blast which you can read more about on ashley’s blog. Let’s just say we were super hot, trampled, super cold, soaked, left with prizes, and probably got every disease around that school! lol much fun! Then ashley went to class and i went back to her dorm. after almost getting stuck in the hallway because i couldn’t figure out how to use her stupid keys, i got in and talked to abi for a while on the phone. Then me and ashley both showered and got ready to go. We decided to go to the 7:40 movie because we didn’t want a repeat of the night before (we’re getting to old for this stuff). Me and ashley went out to eat at FRIENDLY’s which is our new tradition for my visits. Then we got a text from tj saying that he wasn’t out of his meeting yet. So we’re like ok next showing is at 10:40. Instead of being smart and just going back to ashleys dorm we decided NO…we can surely keep ourselves amused for 4 hours!!! So we went shopping…spent some money….shopped some more…..bought our tickets….shopped some more….said hi to ashley’s friend at panera….shopped some more…..got a smoothie…..shopped some more……ew by this time we were like IF I HAVE TO LOOK AT ONE MORE ITEM OF CLOTHING……..!!!!!!!!! BUT finally it was movie time and there was tj!! so after ALL that….the movie was…good. I mean i loved it i really did. It was kinda jumpy and crazy, BUT of course me being the cynical “watch a movie after you read the book” person that i am…i was just…well i could go on and on about what i did and didn’t like but i won’t bore you!! it has a great message but i would just suggest reading the book and skipping the movie!! if you want to stay up late reading a book that will Probably give you nightmares or keep you up at night but that you can’t put down….read HOUSE!

  

Day 3: slept in again. ashley and i headed over to the desuyos to hang out with them for a while. we sat and talked to anna for a while but she was busy with one of her house girls. So me and ashley decided to get out of her hair for a while and got some lunch. So fastfood and highschool musical karaoke are a great mix! We got back and ashley had to go to class and i went shopping at the mall and target with anna and the boys. Then she headed home and gave me directions to the theater. my plan was to see a movie before tj got out of class. She gave me directions which (but of course) got me lost!! Gas station attendents are like my bffls. I made it to the theater and tj was gunna be out of his class soon lol. So i got a smoothie and read my book til he got to the theater and we both watched Madagascar 2 which i found hilarious!! Then we went to his appartment and got me settled in.

Day 4: Tj and i went to northland church (the campus the desuyos go to) and it was really good. We sat with anna and her girls. Anna invited us over for dinner at 5. So after church me and tj got some food at taco bell and then he showed me around his school. It was AWESOME!! it was like walking around Universal or MGM studios..CRAZY fantastic! My favorite part was all the little sets built around a couple sides of one of the buildings. There was a house, a loading dock, a pub, a club, and alot more all right next to. And my favorite of all of those was the fake gas station!! it was soooo cool!! so then we needed to kill a few hours before dinner so we headed to the dollar theater to try for our third movie in a row BUT there weren’t any starting at the right time so we went to the bookstore. Ok i don’t usually like going to bookstores with other people cuz i just want to sit and read like EVERY book i see!! BUT i can safely say tj is my favorite bookstore shopping friend! We both sat there for over two hours and read! it was a blast!! then we headed to anna and james and enjoyed the most delicious fajitas i’ve ever had for dinner!! Then we went shopping and had ice cream with anna, bethany, andthe boys. Then me and tj just went back to his appartment and hung out with his roommates and…..someone else! I was reading on their couch, on and off listening to their conversation about some ongoing game they’ve been doing. After a while i got interested and moved to the table where they were. I got really into figuring out how this game of theirs worked and making up rules for it. It was getting all intense and Spencer typed out a little rule book thing for it. It was finally completed and they started playing. I was lucky enough to witness the first question asked, the first referenced answer, and the first unreferenced victory!! it was great!!!    

Day 5: Got up. Got ready. Got packed. I ate some breakfast (and by that i mean drank a glass of water) Oh by the way i don’t think i’ve ever drank so much water in my life then i did with ashley and tj. Mainly because that’s what they had but i was like “need….dr…..pepper….must….have….” it was insane BUT healthy i suppose so…thanks guys!!! So i got directions from tj and he decided it might be better if i had his gps instead. I argued at first because my obvious technological lackage….but in the end i took it and BOY did i love it. After getting gas and delicious mcdonalds grubbage (including dr pepper) i was on the highway before i knew it with my increddible borrowed gps!! I lovingly named her Dora…because she always knows where she’s going and how to get there. She was so patient with me. Whenever i made a wrong turn or stopped somewhere for gas or food she gently changed our course to get me back on track! She took me all the way home, right back to my very house! We had great fun together and I’m gunna miss that gal when i have to give her back…..

So there you have it. You are back on track with my life! I know boredom can be deadly but i hope you are all still alive and well. I’ll try and be way better at blogging from now on!
